The Trolls are back in town with another rainbow colored adventured accompanied by another bumping soundtrack, that actually outshines the original. World Tour is able to succeed where the original failed—it’s actually fun to watch. Dumping characters that were just not interesting and basically revamping the whole Trolls methos World Tour becomes what the first one should have been.
Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake return as Poppy and Branch (respectively), who discover there is a kaleidoscope of musical Trolls in their world: pop trolls, classical trolls, techno trolls, you names it. But, another troll from the rock ‘n roll part of town has pledged to wipe out the other genre of trolls in the name of rock justice.

The story isn’t perfect, and if you look close you can see the holes, but it’s a big improvement over the obnoxious Bergens (who still manage to be the worst part of the movie in their literally 10 seconds of screen time). But that all feel acceptable because the music is where Trolls really shines with new genre bending mash-ups that I found catchy and enjoyable—at least for now. And the nature of the plot just lends itself to this better.
It’s not the greatest family movie (that certainly hasn’t stopped my kids from asking to see it again and again, really maximizing that two day rental period), but it works well enough—for now. Everyone is different. Trolls World Tour’s music might not be to your thing. If that is the case then, as a parent, you might be in trouble if you cant avoid this one, which promises to be hard going forward.
